Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights Delegation Visits Kamrup
On 7th August, 2026, The Chairperson and Members of the Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) visited Kamrup as part of an Exposure-cum-Learning Visit aimed at fostering the exchange of best practices in strengthening child protection mechanisms. The visiting delegation comprised Chairperson Babita Patra, and Members Chandana Das, Kalpana Lenka, Kasturi Mishra, Manasmita Khuntia and Sujata Nayak.During the visit, the delegation interacted with key stakeholders and attended a comprehensive presentation on the child protection framework being implemented in Kamrup district. The presentation highlighted various initiatives, institutional mechanisms and coordinated efforts undertaken by the district administration to ensure the safety, welfare and holistic development of children.The delegation also visited the District Commissioner's Office Library and appreciated the administration's initiative in establishing and maintaining the facility, acknowledging it as a commendable step towards fostering a culture of learning and knowledge-sharing.The visit concluded with fruitful discussions focused on sharing experiences, exchanging ideas and exploring collaborative approaches to further strengthen child protection systems and promote the welfare of children.The programme was attended by Chairperson of Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights Dr Shyamal Prasad Saikia, District Commissioner, Kamrup, Deba Kumar Mishra; Senior Superintendent of Police, Kamrup, Subhasish Baruah; Additional District Commissioner (WCD), Geetashri Lachit; Additional Superintendent of Police, Punnam Pegu; representatives of the State Child Protection Society; Block Development Officers; District Social Welfare Officer; District Child Protection Officer; Child Development Project Officers; GP Secretaries; members of the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) and other stakeholders associated with child protection and welfare.
